A Big Fashion Mistake my Clients Make

One thing I loved the most about working with men at Neiman Marcus was that they were specific. They ALWAYS knew what they were looking for and it made it easier for me to style them.

I also loved working with women. But sometimes it was difficult to style them because they weren't always specific with their needs - they just had a general idea. Having a general idea isn't bad AT ALL - but sometimes it can lead you into a never-ending pit of destruction because 9/10 you'll just purchase something that more or less fits the bill - not something that you genuinely love.

It made me sick seeing women settle (never settle ladies!!). I could always tell when a client - whether they were mine or working with someone else - didn’t really love what they were trying on or about to purchase. They’d settle for it because an employee - or whoever they were with - told them to buy it.

It bothered the life outta me. So much to the point where I’d talk clients out of a purchase, even when they weren’t working with me (lol my bad Patricia๐Ÿ˜‚).

The biggest mistake my clients made was settling. They settled because they weren’t specific in their needs, so they bought something that was “close enough”. They settled because they had no idea what they were looking for, so they went off of whatever an employee told them.

And that’s what I want to prevent you from doing. Settling.

Because when you settle, you rob yourself of the best.

NEVER settle. Life is too short and valuable for that. Be clear on who you are, how you want your style to be, and what you want it to say. It’ll be so much easier to shop because you’ll know exactly what you’re looking for.

What Marie Condo say? Don’t buy something if it doesn’t spark joy? DOES IT SPARK JOY SARAH?! NO?? Then put it down. You deserve better. You deserve to buy items that you love that’ll make you feel like the powerful, badass you are.

So be intentional and stay focused on the specific wardrobe that you want to build. If you need help with the basics, download my free Ultimate Wardrobe Checklist. It’ll help you round out your wardrobe and prevent you from wasting money on items that you’ll just toss out in the end.
